Important Messages from the OMMU

Senate Bill 2514 was approved by the Florida Legislature and was signed into law as Chapter 2025-204, Laws of Florida, on July 1, 2025. Senate Bill 2514 amended section 381.986, Florida Statutes, to require the Florida Department of Health’s, Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) to revoke the Medical Marijuana Use Registry registration of patients and caregivers who are convicted of, or pleads guilty or nolo contendere to, regardless of adjudication, a violation of chapter 893, on or after July 1, 2025, if such violation is for trafficking in; the sale, manufacture, or delivery of; or possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver a controlled substance.

We are the OMMU

Every day, the OMMU works to provide qualified patients, caregivers and physicians the information and resources they need to access Florida's medical marijuana program.

The OMMU also writes and implements the Department of Health's rules for medical marijuana; oversees the statewide Medical Marijuana Use Registry; licenses Florida businesses to cultivate, process and dispense medical marijuana to qualified patients and certifies marijuana testing laboratories to ensure the health and safety of the public as it relates to marijuana.
